Local main dealer has bin using a pump for engine oil changes for years.
Not saying it's good, just saying they does it.give me a engineering reason why that would be good considering time is money and the car is yours
From an engineering point of view, it would be betterer for them to drain the oil. That way the oil will flow out using gravity and take with it all it can. One would assume it would flush out any metal particles in the oil. Sucking out the oil wouldn't have the same effect, as the sucker may not get to the bottom of the sump. Also after draining mine I fit the plug loose, then remove again after 20 minutes. Half a drinks can of oil flows out. The bit of oil thats dropped to the sump after the initial drain. Removing the oil that way must be betterer as it removes and flushes out old oil, I assume.
