hi, ive got a defender 90, 1990, still with the old td engine in it, the problem i have is the large pipe coming from the turbo is matted with oil and its dripping down onto the near side front, any ideas of what my problem is
regards

The engine is breathing heavy.
There is a breather pipe from the oil filler cap to the air filter and the oil travels through that. Most re-route the pipe from the cap and stick it through a hole in the chassis just below the air filter housing.
Keep a look out for cheap discoverys as a 200tdi conversion might well be on the cards soon.

I have the same engine and the same problem. If its the pipe running downwards under the turbo then that's the oil drain pipe. Took me ages to get hold of a 2nd hand one, no new ones about that I could find. I was told that the 200tdi drain pipe will fit but it didn't with mine. It came up short.

thanks for the replies, but its the large flexi pipe (its like cloth with rings through it) that's the one the oils leaking from , it goes to a large box behind the head lights

Got any photos? There seems to bit of confusion which part you are trying to describe.
The large box behind headlights? is that round with the leaky pipe coming off the top and going to the turbo?
