Hello there,
I'm attempting to change the oil and oil filter in my Disco tonight. Last time went well until it came to the filter.......I got covered in oozing black treacle. Are there any tips someone can give to save me chucking yet another T shirt.

Do it naked??!?


Erm seriously as u unscrew the filter have plenty of paper down, and the oil catcher. Then get the threads vertical as quick as possible, and hope.

If you get a plastic bag, and put it over the filter, up to where it meets the engine, once you have it slack, you can take the filter off without any mess.

Paper, buckets, gloves if you have them are all good for this process... remember to do it on a warm engine.
