I suppose you could at a stretch say it's belt driven as the power comes from the alternator.:rolleyes:

Cos It's not that bad if the system is airtight. I've not had much trouble with EAS, but I do carry a tyre inflation compressor that would if the need arose make a temporary replacement for the EAS compressor. That's not the reason I carry it, I run the rear tyres at 28psi same as the fronts and raise the pressure if & when needed.
 
I thought it would be better powered by a chain via a gear train from a sprocket welded onto the rear propshaft. I reckon a 1" pitch triplex chain should do it.
