Now I know it's no biggie but I had to laugh at this one. After all the past bits of alternators, front diffs, 16 hour labour charges and then the handbrake repairs the other week (just got bill for that one £543 inc VAT - I'm actually re-reading that piece of s#'; thread again as it's getting a bit much now even though I love the beastie), I was enjoying a few days of a blank dash and then yesterday morning pulling into work .... ping..... brake pads warning!

It's got to be the fronts after all the work that had been done on the rear. Got them down to £25 plus vat from a friend in the trade. Might even try and fit them myself.

I had to laugh a little but inside I died a little more :(

It's an easy job. Make sure you use plenty of anti-squeal goo.
 
I won't point you to my thread when I went to do my brake pads.....

Lets just say it involved a 4.5 hour journey, a night in a hotel, begging and pleading the only company in the UK (at that time) that could provide a service I required to open on a Saturday morning, and then a 4.5 hour drive back!

What year is your RR? I have a brand new set of front Eicher pads (4 pads in total) as I bought the wrong ones for my RR.
You can have them for £20 delivered.
 
cant blame the RR for the brakes... any car will need new ones at some point

make sure you know what your playing with, after all the brakes are rather important lol

pad sensors are only like £4 anyway

Yeah you're right but I gotta be due a break sometime soon :(
 
It just gets worse! :( I'm sorry to hear your still having issues! at least brake pads arnt that expensive.... Gulp! :(

Ney worries matey, you've got to laugh haven't yer :D

Don't mind the pads and the sensors but I'm worried about the front end rebuild that will come with it :eek:

To cut the LOOONG story down...

Done both rears and one front set of pads, but the otherside front had a locking wheel nut that had been chewed up, and then the locking wheel nut socket split.....

Front pads were well past their prime so couldnt refit the previous sides pads to ensure even pads on one axle.....

I tried numerous things to get the ONE nut undone, but to no avail....

On recommendation from fellows on here they mentioned the Dynamec tool, looked at their website....100% cast iron guarantee to get off 100% of all locking wheel nuts with NO damage to the alloy.

Gave them a call, they only sell to registered motor traders, but they do offer a service that if I get the car to them, they will get the wheel nut off....guaranteed.

Said I could only attend on a Saturday....they dont open on a weekend....begged and pleaded....they agreed that I give them a call on Saturday morning, they will get one of their guys to go round and sort it out.....

This was a Friday.....and they are in West Yorkshire!

Booked a hotel room, waited for the other half to get back from work and then drove round the M25 and up the M1 in Friday night rush hour traffic....overnight in the hotel....and then off to Dynamec in the morning.

Gave the guy a call, he came round on his push bike, and I kid you not, it took him longer to open the workshop door and find the tool than it did to remove the wheel nut....on the nut, few sharp blows with a hammer and bingo...off....took longer to write that than to do it!

Was £20 to remove the nut but bunged him more for coming out on his day off on a Saturday....then drove all the way back home that day, changed the other front pads job done!!

At that time Dynamec were the only tool to do this, since then many other similar makes have come on to the market and are now available to the populous!

Now you know I'm the king of a a long story so I wouldn't have minded the full thing!

I had to look into that locking wheel nut thingy myself as I had a feeling that the dealer had lost the locking wheel nut thing. Spotted one for less than £20 at Halfords but looking at what you've just said, it looks like it's the real deal or nothing.

My long story short, I've wimped out and booked it into the garge on Monday for the pads and sensors as Lord knows how it would have turned out if I tried it:rolleyes:

Very cruel but the irony here was that you missed the "r" out of break and threatened me with a beak!!!!!

But we all know what you were getting at you little tinker :boxing:
