I've just fixed a load more silly little faults on my new Landy but still haven't worked out why the diff lock light isn't working. Took apart the top of the gear/ratio selector cover/knobs/etc but couldn't find the output thing that the Haynes manual talks about so slid underneath only to spot this:

Is this what I think it is? Have I done 200 miles in this state? :confused:

I thought it was the gearbox sump plug and I've been driving around with no ruddy oil in it!!!!

I thought I'd found it but I'd got the reverse switch (only identified due to colour of wire under all the crud)

I will have another look tomorrow....

That's all the warning lights fixed bar the diff lock, cigarette lighter fixed (I don't even smoke), squeaky steering wheel fixed (why can't people put things back together right) and siezed up bolt on spare sorted......

So diff lock light and rear wash wipe tomorrow.....

be carefull with switch if its not wound in enough it wont work ,if its wound in too far it will jam diff lock selector ,so test it works after,by jacking a wheel up

Thanks... I know the diff lock LR/HR work at the moment as I've tested. Hoping its just a wire :D

I'm used to motorcycles which are a lot easier to work on.....

:D It was 200 but yes.... very worrying....

A friend of mine who was a right mechanical numpty once went under his dolomite and undid the gearbox sump plug before pouring 4l of new oil into engine!

He drove it around for a month like that then had to start all over again with new engine oil and gear box oil. Wouldn't want to risk it myself......
 
Let me know if there is an obvious fix for a rear wash - got the wipe bit going, can even hear a motor work when washing - but no water...
 
or pipe blockage, nozzle blockage, faulty non return valve, faulty pump, non return valve backwards!

You can test:

The pump by swapping the front and rear pumps around as they are apparently the same unit (they have the same part number...
The pipe by blowing through it
The nozzle by blowing through it
Unless you fitted the non return valve it's probably right but worth having a look at.
