Just returned from doing some off-roading in the Picos de Europa (Pyrenees) and Portugal and my Freelander was brilliant. Previously I'd only done greenlaning that also included some late winter laning that had some fairly deep muddy ruts that I thought might be an issue but were no problem at all. The Freeby just sailed along through them on a steady throttle. On that occasion I felt I could try push a little more as my friend in a Disco was following along (wondering himself if I would get through) so I knew recovery would be at hand if needed...we were both very impressed. Check out Youtube - you'll see some Freelanders climbing hills that Disco's and Defenders couldn't make it up as well as some good off-roading in the Dales. Honestly I think things would have to get pretty gnarly or deep before a well driven Freelander got stuck.

I do lots of laning in mine, and can keep up with my bro in his 110 "most" of the time, the only time I can't go the same route as him is when he gets stuck and has to winch himself out, when that happens I usually choose a different route.
I have a mk1 TD4, it's been slightly modded tho, a standard freelander would not be able to do what I do in mine.

I see by the spec's of your FL it looks good, talking to other owners they are a lot more capable than some would like to admit.

Mine looks a lot like yours LandyMan - modulars and offroad tyres. I'm running Event tyres and have been very happy - done two trips down to Spain/Portugal through France. The 2" lift is next I reckon and perhaps a remap for more torque and a bit more grunt.
