Went to replace my starter motor today.
Couldn't remove the battery box as the front bolt into the plastic clamp turned but didn't come out. Paused to contemplate options. :scratching_chin:

Then I noticed an oil build up on the back of the front rocker cover. I knew I had a leak but I've replaced that gasket so didn't think it would be there. However there is a lot of oil in the PCV pipe, which I previously broke at the T connector and bodged - thought it was ok but maybe a vacuum leak is causing the oil to enter - no idea how it works really! Slapped myself and ordered a new one.

Got my iPhone OBDii app working. Picked up P0420 (Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold) which I knew about anyway, although I'm not sure what causes it.

Then I noticed that one of the bolts on the large auxiliary belt pulley is touching the nearby engine mount bracket (see pics). That can't be good surely! Is there some adjustment whereby I can move it away slightly? Can any V6 owners confirm that this is in the right position, and that the bolts are the right ones? They look like B&Q bolts to me!

Your bolts have bigger heads than mine.

That makes sense. The garage who did the recent work obviously lost the originals.
I'll have to see if I can find some better ones.

Torx. I think LR use them as the head wears less when turned, when compared to hex heads.

I think the garage also replaced the screw in the battery clamp with a hex bolt.
Any any rate the thread in the plastic clamp seems to be munged, which is a bit of a problem as I need to get to the starter motor.
I might have to remove the throttle body instead.

Disconnect the 0v negative side the of the battery first. If they've nackered the clamp/screw then you can put one of those on yer shopping list too.

Done a few with the clamp bolt siezed it is possible to lever the clamp out of the way so you can get the battery out then you can sort the bolt out with the tray removed. Don't pry on the battery for obvious reasons.
