I have a 1998 freelander done 80000 mile ive have a noise from i think the middle of the car, whining/ bearing noise starts when the cars starts moving and is there all the time and is quiet loud, any ideas what it could be boys???

is that to do with the prop shaft and if so can i take it off

not the best time of year to go 2wd tho.

the repair is covered in the Q's and A's section.

I have a similar noise on my 3 dr 1.8. Prop has been removed. I've been advised that it is either one or both rear wheel bearings, or the diff. In addition to the continuous low rumbling, i also get a bit of vibration from the rear end, at very low speeds. Enough to make shopping bags rattle!! Check the bearings before removing the prop (unless the VCU is knackered). Hope this helps, Russ
