Our 2004 Freelander Td4 had her clutch, flywheel and all cylinders changed just of 18 months ago. But since she has had a problem with the demist function in the air distribution. When the car is slowing down, with the clutch both engaged and dis-engaged a whirring sound comes from OSF area. It sounds more like a can in the tyre of bicycle. I thought maybe something had maybe dropped into the system from the windscreen and was catching the fan but that is definitely not the case I have got into the fan and the system but there is nothing there. I am thinking more towards the area of the OSF of the car, but I have no idea what it could be, especially as it appears to be linked to the air distribution system.

Looking at the car at the minute I cannot see anything down there, I see the air intake is in the OSF wing but I cannot see anything else really around there.

Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

have a look at the air con compressor that is on the off side front it may be the belt or something catching on the pulley
