Hi all i have a 1992 200tdi and i have filled the screen wash bottle up but i dont get any water out on front window.
i push the switch and the wipers come on but no water,i have cleaned the connections to the motor and still nothing,i cant hear the motor working when switch is pushed but dont no if this is a faulty motor or switch.

Have any of you guys got any suggestions or ideas for me to try.
all help appreciated.

i had my dad put a circuit tester on the pump and he said it is fine but he didn't seem 100%.
i'll give that a go,cheers mate.

what sort of circuit tester was it ? - did he just check for continuity through the motor ? - did he check for 12v across it when the switch contacts were closed ?

he basically used a rapitest multi check to check for a complete circuit using a black lead for common and a red for the circuit and when a circuit is complete a green light shows and a buzzer goes off.

if he did that with the wiring disconnected and across the motor that could indicate continuity through the pump - however the green light would probably still show if the windings were a dead short

only way to fault find properly is with a voltmeter

you have checked the fuse ?

this is the tester we used.

You have probably got some sludge in the reservoir that is blocking the pump inlet filter.

Mine went so i swapped the plugs over on the pumps and tested the pump by pushing the rear window wash button.
Or did i just swap the hoses over and used the rear wash to button to clean the screen?
dam so many bodges so little brain to remember them :(

Check the washer jets and the pipes to them, maybe they're blocked or split or just not connected. Stand the vehicle on dry ground, run the screen washer for a while and check for water in the engine compartment . see if it's any pipes leaking anywhere.

thank you for all the replies,i have it sorted now.i basically swapped the front and rear round so the rear one now isn't working but i can live with that and it wont effect the mot.
thanks again guys.

The motor impeller can be jamed with muck so a reverse flush will clear it it and get it spinning again, if that is the problem.
