front axle cv ,drive member,diff,you can pull of plastic caps see if ones spinning ,remove diff filler plug you can see diff turning,cv check shortest first
i drove around 4 days wi my front prop off till i recieved my new 1 from paddocks and same with rear as thought front was gone but ended up bein both so aslong as ya steady diffloack wont hurt i just got advised not to go above 50ish in diff lock lol
And Remember NEVER NEVER use difflock on the Ice as you may avoid rolling your 90 into a field and destroying it! Oh I mean you should use difflock to AVOID crashing into a field Aye Sibble!
Difflock should be used when traction is likley to be lost by either lifting wheels, or slippery surfaces thats Ice, Snow, sand, gravel basically everything bar solid ashphelt/tarmac or owt that has a high grip co efficient.

Do i need to get ready to catch oil as i do these checks?

In fairness i was prepared that it would be breaking down at some point. Just a shame its a biggy for the first one!
