front axle cv ,drive member,diff,you can pull of plastic caps see if ones spinning ,remove diff filler plug you can see diff turning,cv check shortest first

With your front prop OFF you could drive at 100mph you fool have you not read what we have been saying? You could also drive it like that forever!!
 
Your landy is pretty much 1 wheel drive and 2 wheel drive when in diff lock!
I will explain in SIMPLE terms for some:
As your axels are not locked like a go-kart it will spin the easier wheel. (broken drive flange, or simply if in the air). When you select DIFF lock it only locks front to rear!! So now to loose drive you will need 2 wheels to be in the air but now has to be 1 from the FRONT and 1 from the REAR! If you don't understand this I really can't help you!!
The reason they so don't go above 50mph in diff lock is rubbish as you should only use diff lock when really needed!! You can slide in diff lock while driving you don't have to be stationary (high-low yes). So you should slide it straight back after use! And avoid like the plague driving in diff lock on the road as it will wind your diffs up and break the weakest part.
Hope this helps and clears up what diff lock is and it's use!!!
 
And Remember NEVER NEVER use difflock on the Ice as you may avoid rolling your 90 into a field and destroying it! Oh I mean you should use difflock to AVOID crashing into a field Aye Sibble!

Difflock should be used when traction is likley to be lost by either lifting wheels, or slippery surfaces thats Ice, Snow, sand, gravel basically everything bar solid ashphelt/tarmac or owt that has a high grip co efficient.

Not bad trying to look for a job!! Getting very short of funds! Not good. It's also boring. Before you say it, yes the landy does keep me busy but not when you have no money for parts lol.
How about yourself??
 
Not bad working but working for not much gain TBH! Probably better of on the dole but hey ho. Landy is getting there but again no funds selling s/h landy parts is half funding some LR parts but not many!

Do i need to get ready to catch oil as i do these checks?

Only bought the defender 5 weeks ago, a sign of things to come i fear :D

In fairness i was prepared that it would be breaking down at some point. Just a shame its a biggy for the first one!
