Driving along the other day when the rev needle dropped to zero ?, ignition warning light works ok and goes out when engine running, but today a few days later I have all the symptoms of a flat battery, got the Disco home and turned off the engine and battery voltage was 10.24 after 20minutes the voltage recovered to 11.6 and was slowly climbing, needed a push to get it going and even putting the brakes on caused the speedo needle to drop to zero and back up, any advice anyone, the alternator is 15 months old ? the previous alternator caused the rev needle to drop but continued to charge ok, even though the red light was on all the time, wanted some advice/guidance before ordering another alternator

I doubt if a 15 month alternator is still under warranty, a new one from Land Rover is only 12 months and a refurbished one 6 months is the norm.

Not having a good day, the battery chargers packed up now :( 12 month warranty so 3 months out, asked for a price from

May be a long shot but it may be the wiring loom that runs on the bulkhead to the right of the exhaust manifold, this happened to mine when i switched it off at some roadworks once and wouldn't restart (very embarassing). The following day the rev counter started jumping all over the place which is when i found the wiring had all melted on the manifold.
