Erm, yeah, that's the spirit.. A hypothetical 300TDI, lets say, for arguments sake, the brakes feel like they would if the iginition was not on

Still not fixed this problem CharlesY, mind you just spent over a week doing the cambelt
What I'm going to do as I dont have time to mess about, is to fit the servo from my spare disco on it as the brakes on that were spot on and far better than mine.
But not next week as I have to finish stripping the old Disco of anything that's any good and get it off to the scrappie before it rusts away completely.
Just happy that I now have an excellent heater that burns yer feet off, theys not all like that after all (cold I means)

Right then, are these the places I am checking?

In this first pic, the in the red box on the left (behind the fluid reservoir) I pulled the hose out and was able to blow air into the tube but not suck air out, that's a good thing yes?

In the red box on the right, is this the t-piece referred to? The smaller hose goes off and around the back of the engine and off to the EGR plumbing near the air box




This second pic shows the hoses involved in the t-piece, is it the hose going down from the t-piece I need to check for splits and stuff? Also, what is it that the hose goes into in the bottom right corner of the red box?

I seem to have cured it. I bent the small pipe in half that is tee'd off the main pipe, and tie wrapped it. Now I can press the brakes several times even when just ticking over and they still work great.
Must have a leak in that little pipe.

Mine was the vacuum pump. I swapped it for a reconned unti and all good.

If you take the pipe from the servo and put your finger over it there should be a decent amount of suction, enough so that you need to pull your finger away, on mine there was enough that I could feel suction but not enough to keep it attached to my finger.

When I put the new one on then I could hear a sucking noise and a like clicking noise (the diapghram in the vacuum goingback and forth I recon) and I had to pull the pipe from my finger cos the suction was better.
