well went out today to have a go at cleaning my new to me 300 as it was super dirty inside as i started i could feel the big rubber boot floor mat was soaking wet so i went to lift it expecting to find a rusty floor it has a new 2year mot/ct but here in france they dont really care about boot floors so expected the worst keep in mind this is a 17 year old 900 quid disco (thats super cheap over here)but this is what i found yeh

so my question is what do peeps do with the boot floor surly its just daft to put the big old rubber **** back dry or not its gona hold water do you just shove yer carpets back and leave the gaint sponge out pics of peeps different floor covers would be nice

I was contemplating putting chequer plate in over the floor, with mounting rings bolted through to prevent my tools sliding everywhere!

Hi Dyte, What I did to mine was :-
Completely dry out heavy rubber mat
Seal the access plate with sealer(I think it draws condensation into the boot area)
Cover the plate with a COMPLETE news paper to absorb condensation and damp
Inspect every 5/6 weeks and replace newspaper, which is usually dry.
Works for me.

I dried my mat out, fitted a new floor, sealed all the roof leaks and put the mat back.

Been good so far.

Think roof might be my problem did you do it right ie weld it or did you get away with silicon on the inside where was yours leaking mine looks like the gutter from the outside anyway

Took ages to find the leaks. Pulled the lining out, both sunroofs are now sealed, alpines treated with captain tolleys, gutters sealed with isoflex rubber tanking compound. In the end it was a little taped-over joint in the gutters near the back end, the tape had lifted and water was capilliarying inside. Filled joint with sikaflex, also the joint over back door. In the end I just went over the whole arse-end of her with three tubes of sikaflex, a small tin of isoflex, capt. Tolleys and seam sealer! Another leak was the air vents in the lower back quarters behind the dickie seat trims. I still need to pull the rear quarters as they still drip a tiny bit.

Also sealed the gutter trim strips on with silicone sealant. The result is that my gutters hold water for ever now
