Now that I've put a few miles on the Rangie and have given it a bit of a shake down, I'm starting to identify little 'issues' that you may be able to help me with...

When I unlock the car, the seats and mirrors don't move to the relevant positions (in relation to the key number) - if i press the button (1 or 2) on the seat, it all moves correctly... Any ideas?

The mirrors don't ever seem to move back to the correct positions either - I have to play with the mirror button to adjust them for each driver....
 
and so he should! what wiff important issue such as "I have to play with the mirror button to adjust them for each driver".
 
Damn you guys are good,cant wait to ask for help when i have some issues.
In fact i'm gonna go look for some now ......... now where did i put my torch???

Know its a stuooopid question but are you sure you have a key 1 and key 2 and not a key 3 and key 4??

Since putting my memory seats in I have noticed that the lazy seats feature doesnt work on unlocking either. I havent yet tried it with my key 2 though yet.

You know that when you unlock you have hold on the unlock button to activate the lazy seats, have you tried this??

Wills - to be honest, haven't a clue - both keys are identical without any stickers, so am assuming that they are 1 and 2.... I have held down the unlock button - no joy though.

Thanks to the rest of you for your pearls of wisdom - its nice to know I can rely on you for an answer - even if it is a sarcastic one......
 
If both keys work then you have different No.s, e.g 1 and 2,or 3, or 4.
Keys 3 and 4 will not work the lazy mode.
If you have two no.1 keys each time you set them and try to start the engine you will be prompted to "press remote" if you do with your 2nd No. 1 then it will tranfer the data to the new key, and no longer work with your first key.
In other words you should notbe able to use 2 keys of the same No.
As stated you may have a No.1 and a No. 3 or 4.

Do you have an owners manual?
I can copy the section about the lazy mode if it would help.

I've not got a hardcopy of the owners manual - but I have downloaded it and have digested it - thanks....

Is there any way of establishing which key numbers I have?
 
If you find it,it would be worth knowing

How is the no. decided by the key? Is it a component component change or selected by a link inside the key?

Did you read the bit about the dashbord light settings for memory ?

there should be stickers on the back of the keys in that little rectangular recess. In reality they have probably worn off and disappeared over time.

I assume the key I use everyday is a key 3 or 4 as it doesn't operate the lazy seats.

I just went out and tested my 'spare' key 2 that i got from the dealer when I got my P38 and that operated the 2nd memory setting on the seat totally fine. I went out, held on the unlock button for about 2-3 secs and the seat moved to the second position.

so i would guess that you are probably using a key 3 or 4 for your everyday driving. how many keys do you have??
