I have a Disco 300TDI from 1995, the syncromesh rings from the gearbox are starting to get worn... It is getting more difficult to get the Disco properly in gear.
My Disco`s in the repairshop for a new clutch right now (LandRover dealer; they're just around the corner from my house) and they told me that they feel (after a testdrive) that the syncromesh rings are very worn and that it would probably be best to fit another gearbox (instead of taking out the box and changing the rings).
They are not going to do that right now (I don`t want them to do that, they are way to expensive to be working on my car for days), but I`m wondering, is it worth the extra money to have a reconditioned box fitted? When I trade in my old box, would kind of cash should I be thinking off? How many hours of labour would this be for an experienced mechanic?
Just pondering what to do and looking for some advice from you people of whom someone surely has had this problem before
