New to the forum and LR club scene, learning alot thanks to u guys, really nice rides too. owning the disco has forced me learn and appreciate alot.

owned my first ever LR disco for just over 2 years now. 'R' reg, silver xs standard as far as im aware.

initially thought it would just see me through the next couple of winters until i decided on a 90 or 110. (when i say decided i mean saved up haha) few family members own them n liked them from the start.

Anyhoo, with 94,500 on the clock on date of purchase thought she was a bargain. solid body on the outside,only 1 little car park nick on drivers door, solid chassis, no smoke, pulled well, good mpg for a truck that age & size & no engine knocks.

2 years have passed and im hooked. would like to start having some fun in her and with being new to the whole off road green laning scene i thought id just treat the whole car to a lil hammerite n waxoil.

pulled back carpets n found the usual (so iv been told) so i stripped interior n set about making my very own Flintstones car:











started welding some sheet and angle in place ready for the the new floor (8mm chequer plate 900 x 1800 powder coated black) prob going to split in two. the plan is to use st/stl countersunk bolts so the whole floor is removable and a few swivel eyelets for tie-downs (future plans taken into consideration) and replace the cross-members for support along with seatbelt mounts.

New to welding too so plz dont hold it against me



next up is to fit my home-made pneumatic operated side and back step so my d-abled daughter can get in so its future proof.

I have a similar plan for the boot floor - black chequer plate with grip tape and tie downs.

This is the front. Fully waxoyled with the chequer plate on runners.

That looks really good. I was debating whether or not to use the wax oil inside the cab or not but I suppose it's prob a good idea, you won't see it either.

Since is a nice day today I'm going to attempt to seal the sunroofs up n let them dry while cracking on with the rest of the floor. Hopefully have more pics for tonight.

Back from working on the beast. Managed to get the new metalwork painted and the fuel
Tank back in place. Unfortunatly due to the local Einsteins where i live il jav to find a way of the buggers from stealing my fuel.found yet another hole drilled in the top of my tank! Just wondering what they'll do when i hav the new tyres on lol.

Anyone selling a whinch bumper or original full wrap around bull bar plz let me know.

P.s. to a.f. pet did u chequer plate the rear footwell aswell?

No but it's "on the list". May take five weeks, may take five years.

How long hav you owned your disco? Have you achieved what you wanted to or is never ending? Sorry for all the questions, just trying to plan what i should do n how to get there.

Since 2006. Still lots to do. Mainly interior, retrim headliner, new dash console, etc. Watch my build thread in my signature.

Trying to find the right place to click to find ur thread sorry mate lol clicked on ur name but still lost.not usually thqt bad navigating lol. So the disco is a real labour of love then? Suits me down to ground.space for the 4 kids n the dog n wheelchair.cant see us getting in a 110 just yet lol

labour of love is right, I brought mine with no intension of fiddling around with it, then I changed the front prop to a servicable one, then rear suspension,alternator, terrafirm steering damper , cooling system sun roof seals boot covering im hooked. Hated working on landy's in the forces but my disco is perfect looking at changing front and rear shocks next and fitting new mud flap plates as mine have rusted out good look with your build will be looking out for your pics

trying to "trick" mine out as the eldest refers to lol. hpefully going to perfect the pneumatic steps n sell a few for d-abled ppl. dont fancy payin out for the crap they sell. not really made for disco's lol. plus ppl just take advantage of ppl in need . . . but without getting all self righteous im looking forward to it. just looking for whinch bumpers at the mo.

didnt want to stop welding, plus my cuz decided to have a lil sit down break.

fair play, im trying too build a sleeper looking as basic as poss on the out side with all the guts underneath shes a v8 thor on lpg had a few niggles with it at first now got it running sweet changed the filters to K&N new plugs leads pulls like a pig like I said shocks plates and tyres on on the too do list

enough grunt to pull the house right?!!! lol, stickin with diesel for now, is it a straight forward swap for petrol v8 (fuel lines, tank & ECU n gubbins) or is it a case of buying a v8 to save the hastle? do like working on cars though so dont mind the aggro.

I havnt a clue tbh wouldn't go for the rover engine tho would fit a chevy v8 if I was going down them lines rovers arnt the best to be fair

the garage round the corner sells lpg, petrol is a ridiculous price but the lpg is obviously far cheaper. so that got me thinking, especially when theres a few range rover v8's knockin round .. ... .. ... burbble burbble burbble growl. what more do you want!! lol

hopefully get the braided lines finished this weekend. havnt got the suspension kit yet but goin to put the extra length hoses in ready. bought a fair bit of braided line n connectors too so room for error lol.

do you happen to know if the td5 rear calipers fit or are the same as my 300tdi?

must admit it does sound nice and lpg at 63p ltr cheap as chips I don't see why they don't fit not much difference when it comes too disco's have alook in the build threads and tec section loads of advise on here
