Hi all. New guy here and if youve looked at my details you will know Ive only just got my F.L after trading in a p reg 323 coupe bmw and have a couple of questions. 1: are the brakes usually this bad and is there a fix I can do as its nearly caught me out a couple of times. 2: Im afraid I made the sin of getting one with no history so not sure if any works been done on it but it pulls really well if a bit revy but it is a 1.8 and Im used to a 2.5 so can understand this but are there any things I really need to check quick (apart from the usual water and oil)? Hope it is a goodun as its black and the 3 door so looking forward to next year if we see the sun again and getting the back off. many thanks and any advice would be greatly appreciated. cheers for now.

1). Yes, don't drive so close to the vehicle in front, learn to anticipate.

2).Give it a service if you don't know when it last had one, you'll at least get used to looking at the engine and such, so you'll notice when it goes pear shaped.

You'll probably have to drive in some snow before you get to sun bathe in it.

Im not one of those that drive up peoples rear ends but I was coming down a hill last night and was nearly stood on the brakes and had to use the engine to slow it down. I understand its not gonna be anything like as good as the beemer as its only running discs front and drums rear but feels so wooden so wondering if this is something to do with the F.L as i had an import terrano r3mr before the beemer and that stopped fine. thinking maybe a flush is needed or new pads and discs an maybe new shoes for the rear. are F.Ls 4x4 or just urban cruisers as the terrano had high and low ratios and this is just like a car inside so not really sure what Ive got. lol.

Snigger. Check the rear seats for ghd burns, that will give you a good indication.

Urban cruiser;

An Urban Cruiser is a person who may take pride in going around public areas in search for having sexual intercourse with the same gender.

Thusly explaining the position of a gaylander within society

or maybe they have a franchise on a 'Crimp & Comb-over'

ah yes def posted in the wrong place then. maybe rename this place as the none freelander snobs club. My humblest of appologies for staining your pages with an F.L question. I will get on my knees and pray to the great god landrover for forgiveness.

There is no god Land Rover. That was a fallacy foisted upon us by the church.

Hardly snobbery considering a new FL costs more than a standard 90, if you want the snobs section toddle off to the RR board :D

They'll tell you to go back to peasantville

Not snobbery in the slightest, it's merely the wonderful ribbing all freelanderes get from tratter boys:D:D
Don't take offence, us tratter boys are blessed with a single minder sense of humour:lol:

How long were you a taxi driver? What did you drive? Why did you pack it in? Oh yeh, nearly forgot - welcome to the funny farm.

another gaylander owner without a sense of humour

r they all like this?

my appologies if i sound like i dont have a sense of humour but have just sold my beemer and was on a bmw forum and as i didnt have the latest 30 to 50k model very little help was forthcoming. the question regarding urban cruising was meant as i have no intention of taking the freelander anywhere near the mud. if i wanted one for that i would prob source a diesel but if you look at the number of offroad looking vehicles on the market these days that are just 2 wheel drive i just wondered if the freelander was one of those. have had a look underneath and can see the prop now. again my apologies for seeming not to be able to take some light hearted banter but after being treated like a pauper at the beemer site i think my skin was prob still a bit raw. will have to learn to treat you non f.l drivers as banjo playing yokels from now on then. lol. all the best guys and again soz for seeming as i cant take a joke.

We all hate BMW drivers on here so all is good, you've escaped the clutches of the oppressive nazi regime and joined the allied forces :p
