Hello all,
My name is Clifford; Cliff if you like. I have a 2000 Discovery Series II 2.5 Td5 GS7 Limited Edition. Unfortunately, it has the rotting chassis rear end problem and has failed it's MOT. The cost of getting this repaired doesn't make much sense economically, but I'm loath to let an otherwise sound vehicle go for scrap/parts. It's done 149k miles and needs a few service items but is in great shape apart from the ridiculous chassis that was used on these vehicles.
I've decided I should have a go at repairing (welding) the chassis myself and give the old girl a few more years. I havn't done any welding since college so will be practising first. I have no idea how the various bits that need to come off to facilitate the repairs but I'm hoping I might get some help here?
Emptying and removing the fuel tank is first on the list of hows?
Nice to be joining you all and the Sun has come out too.
