A prop shaft.
I guess the rest of the world is wrong if they don't call it a drive shaft in English. o_O

Uhh............

So you call a prop shaft a drive shaft and a drive shaft an Uhh! how strange.

UK: shaft from gear/transfer box to differential = prop shaft , shaft from differential to wheel hub = driveshaft (live axle)
US: shaft from gear/transfer box to differential = drive shaft , shaft from differential to wheel hub = uhh (live axle)

We use the generic term "drive shaft" for both.

Now I'm just confused.

No wonder... a Land Rover has a front and back propshaft that run down the vehicle from front to back "a bit like a boat" it also has 4 drive shafts that go from one side of the vehicle to the other that meet at the differential some call them half shafts don't know why because they don't split anything in half...
