After trying, for a year, to decide what would be a suitable replacement for the Dodge Charger R/T (combination of Arizonas unpaved roads and stiff R/T suspension are killing it) I've, finally decided on this 2011 Mercedes GL450
. A couple of initial issues, the electric tailgates refusal to close being the most irritating and embarrassing. This was fixed by fitting a new latch assembly (at $450, the 2 year bumper to bumper extended warranty already repaying some of the $3600 it cost, and I'm sure that it will not be the last visit back for repairs
).
Besides being the daily driver its only going to be used for some of the milder desert trails, almost a month in I'm very happy with it, maybe a Range Rover next time, I just could not find any with decent mileage, the right age, in good condition
