So after many visits to such sites I thought I should join one ! Hello all.
I have a Range Rover 200Tdi 1992 so am always in need of advice ! More so lately it seams.
It's my only motor, I've had it for 8 years and it dose about 250 miles a week... I have to be fair and say that it has never seriously let me down (actually touching wood as I type this) as we've always made it home !
The latest and most seasonal of issues is the heating.... it's taken to blowing cold air when it feels like it, then hot again? Water level is good and constant. Engine temp just below half way (always the same).
So if anyone has any ideas... :confused: Cheers.

So.. have spent the time since last post searching the site for advice on the best way to bleed the 200... and other interesting things...got side tracked quite a lot (good forum this).
Decided to start with the simplest and work up. Removed the header tank cap and ran the motor for some time with the heating on full as recommended, sorry can't remember by who.. to many threads ago !
The water was luke warm (even after a good run) and the level would rise and fall by about 2 inches or so as I watched :confused: assumed this may be the movement of air, but never saw any bubbles appear..
Heating was fine this morning on the way to work.. I was just getting warm when the F#*!#!G thing went cold again !!!

Some time later warm air started to waft out of the vents like nothing had happened :confused::confused: I may have to break out the spanners....

Evning.
Changed the thermostat at the weekend, after a I had convinced the chap behind the counter that my 92 Range didn't have a VM in it! Settled for the one listed for Disco with a 200 in....(89 deg C) which he still had to order !
All now seems well with the heating :D .. although the weather is much warmer at the moment. We will see!

Thanks very much... I really can't complain, I've had it nearly 8 yrs. and it's done well over 200 thousand miles.
There's been some hassel with the engine... head gasket... cracked block... but I wouldn't swap the old girl for anything !!
What 20 year old motor doesn't give a few problems ! :D
 
Hi Rustystuff, welcome to the fold, I had a classic with a 200 tdi did over 240,000 miles in it never let me down in 8 years, great motor wish I still had it. Then I bought a p38, the start of all my motoring troubles.

They are a great motor. Will do most everything you need to do on 4 wheels...in absolute comfort. My farther went from a classic (He sold it to me) to a P38... he wishes he'd never sold it. Dosen't help that he see's me driving about in it !!
Don't think he would have been so keen on it when it came to welding most of the floor and door posts back in ! :(
Don't now what I will do when the old girl eventually gives up the ghost..

Yes the old tin worm is a big problem on the classic rangie, thats what usually finishes them off altogether and yet the p38 is not troubled so much with rust only electrical gremlins. I would keep your classic going for as long as you can.
 
Well, for the moment it's ok... but... it dose need front inner wheel arches and I'm not certain how the lights are staying were they are because there's bugger all holding them in place !! ... and it could do with a set of doors.. we shall carry on fighting the good fight... one rusty piece at a time ! :)
It shows how well these were built in the first place because it all stays in one piece.... and keeps going ! :)
