Hi All

New to Landyzone and I’m after a bit of advice really. I’ve just moved and am thinking of buying either a Discovery 2 or a SWB Defender, don't want to spend anymore than 5k as its a second car and for a bit of fun, I’m not mechanically minded at all so am thinking is this a good decisiona as I have read you need to know way round a engine??

This is one I’ve been looking at

Land Rover Defender

Also does anyone know of a good dealer in the Harpenden area?

Yours thoughts and comments would be greatly appriciated

Many thanks :)

Ian

lot of money for an E plate
If you want to buy a 90 or a disco take someone who knows the pitfalls and don't buy with your heart

Sounds to me like you need to find a good independent 4x4 garage ,who could probably sell you a motor and service /repair it for ya :)

Welcome!

That's a high price for an old vehicle. I would suggest looking for a 200tdi or 300tdi Defender with a good, solid chassis.

Don't be tempted by all the bolt-on bits, like fancy bumpers, alloy wheels etc. Compared to the cost of a new chassis, those bits are pretty worthless.

£5k should get you a pretty decent 300tdi if you're patient and shop around enough. And as Fanatic says, take someone who knows Landys with you and get them to have a good poke around. Better to walk away than be stuck with a rusty heap!

Good luck with the hunt! :D

Hi Guys

Thanks for the replies, I’ll take that onboard and yes I thought it was a bit high in price for an E plate, looks nice though!! All need to do now is find someone in the area who knows a lot about Defenders!

Cheers

Ian
