Hi guys,
I picked up my(96') rangie this afternoon from liverpool and although she's knocking on I must say I love it!For some reason I do like the sound of the 6cyl diesel.
Now for the reason I'm posting (there has to ba a catch lol).
Picked her up and after about a mile of driving uphill the temp gauge quickly rose to the red so pulled over and let her cool down. Had a look and the expasion tank was near enough empty so filled it with water (not ideal but the best I could do at the time).
Did another few miles then hit the motorway and doing a steady 60-65 the engine was overcooling, I could see the temp gauge moving down into the blue. I did another 30 odd miles like this and pulled into the services to check. Then the bonnet wouldn't open so elected to carry on.
Literally as I got off the services slip road the temp rose again so I pulled onto the hard shoulder and called the AA and got recovered the remainder 70 ish miles.
So, what does everyone think? From having a read through the forums I'm going to say either the thermostat or the waterpump (any part numbers for these?). I will do the prod the viscus fan with a rolled up paper tomorrow but I suspect that may be on it's way out too.
Currently downloading rave and would appreciate anyone's suggestions. Sorry for the long post
