Have you tried looking by the petrol tank? Some manufacturers put the fuel filter back there (Vauxhall for instance).
Yet another head gasket failure eh? What was the mileage and cost of the repair if you don't mind me asking? I recently got my V6 back after new head gaskets were fitted. £1600 to fix, 37k miles.

Sorry M8, i would just be worried about the full sevice, if the "mechanic" couldnt find the fuel filter, and i know nothing about petrols, but get a manual anyway, it will help you know about your car, and YOU WILL NEED IT
Ha ha ha, another comedian. I thought the whole idea of this site was to provide help to other members who need help. When you have spent the best part of two days with your land rover in bits, its late, dark and raining, the last thing you need is some plonker taking the p**s.

not taking the **** mate, i would consider it good advice if i were you, i could say yep, heres your filter just explain it to your mechanic but to me and others on here a mechanic that cant find a fuel filter is a bit of a ****e mechanic, so get the **** off your high horse and be satisfied that others are concerned that your mechanic is an inadequate ****er

(The others just wanted to give you good advice as to be honest, a mechanic should be able to find a filter in the fuel line from the tank towards the engine and see (recognise) a filter if there is one, and on condition it is not inserted into the tank's swirl pot as I'm afraid it's shown in diagram 1 ??)

At last, some help from someone who actually knows what hes talking about. All I`ve had so far from so called "experts" is a load of crap. (Read thread) Plonker from Wales says "Get another mechanic" I say "get yourself a life and dont waste other peoples time with stupid comments. What kind of help is that? Whether the mechanic is ****e or not, he doesnt normally work on Freelanders and did follw the fuel lines from the tank right up to the injectors .
If you can read the thread from a proper member who even sent me a schematic of the fuel system, you will see that on my model, its hidden in the fuel system, but of course you knew that didnt you!
Why dont you talk about something you actually know about and not just post stupid comments

why are you thanking willo, there is nothing about a fuel filter on any of those diagrams so therefore that makes you the plonker "ooh thank you willo for posting a diagram of no fuel filter" if you have faith in a mechanic that cant trace a fuel line from the tank to the engine and find a filter then thats up to you but in my book its a simple job to do, just crawl under the vehichle find the fuel lines and trace them from the tank to the engine, hey presto theres the filter. just say this to your mechanic and tell him that a welsh plonker told you how easy it was, i wasn't being derogatory to start with but you obviously took it that way as you probably have very little self esteem but i was merely pointing out a fact, anyway now i have explained to you how to find the fuel filter i hope you will say thank you to me

no nobroit i didnt know thats where it was and i appologise as i didnt notice that bit, so if yer mechanic was servicing it did he have a new fuel filter to put on or is the fact that its in the tank and therefore cant be got at to replace as a servicable item therefore that is not the filter you change when you service the vehicle so there
At least willo tried to help. I`ve noticed that no one,so far, can actualy tell me where the fuel filter is. Its a simple question for an expert like you, why dont you tell me and everyone else where it is and show everyone how clever you are. It seems youre the one with very little esteem as you seem to spend your time posting snide answers to a simple question
