Okay checked batteries - both above 3.2 - connections inside unit seem good but still no led. When locked with the key does the imobiliser on a 1995 version activate or does it need the key fob. I understand it does not have the coil on the ignition barrel as they were not introduced until 1996.

This may seem obvious but are the batteries in the right way round? Flat (+) to the battery case and the domed side to the inside of the remote. Just a thought.
