Hi all, got time on my hands now I'm retired and decided to tap into LandyZone. Looks like there is plenty going on here, would be interested to hear from anyone who has been told there Disco 2 has to have it's front orange marker light bulbs removed for the MOT test as they are supposedly ILLEGAL ???

Thanks, it's great to have the time at last to do these things. Hope someone will be able to respond ref the lights issue as the beast is up for test soon and I get fed up of removing the bulbs !

Welcome to the forum Buccaneer. I am sure you will enjoy the banter (I hope you have a thick skin, you may need it at times) not heard about the D2 lights issue you mention.

I claim bull**** - Mine has an MOT with the orange marker lights fully working and intact.

WHAT I THINK may be the issue is one that I encountered when I owned a Pontiac Trans Am (think Knight Rider and you'll get the idea). It's front sidelights were orange.

The D2 does have conventional white sidelight bulbs in the headlights therefore as long as they are working then you should not have any trouble.

Further info - the sweet irony of the 3rd generation Firebirds and Trans Ams was that the headlights were pop-up ones. They were simple, cheap, square-ish Cibie lights. All I had to do was buy a new pair of them which had sidelight fitments and bulbs already integrated into them. When sidelights were selected, those bulbs illuminated thus obtaining me an MOT. IT WAS IRRELEVANT THAT THE HEADLIGHTS WERE STILL STOWED and thus the sidelights couldn't actually be seen, just the good ol' Merkin factory fitted orange ones. Oh, how i larfed!

Thanks to all respondents for a warm welcome, and yes Toprulesman I have a thicker skin than most, but then again I am a Yorkshire man. I told the tester it was bull**** Difflock66, but it didn't seem to wash and when I contacted DVLA - well they didn't have a #=*kin clue !

Did the tester not go round to the front of the Disco and see...white sidelights?? Change the MOT station if you can.

Tell him to have a look at some recent BMW models too..
