My new p38 key has arrived at the stealers, and they want half an hour to code it to the car. Is this reasonable?

Or is it something I can do without diagnostic equipment?

By coding, I think they are referring to resynchronisation which you can do easily yourself. Details in the handbook or on here if you do a search.

do it yourself mate think everything has to be working rite though windows st locking etc etc however my mums old one took the code when the drivers window was not set but may be wrong

The handbook says put the key in the ignition to resynch, but that doesn't seem to work with the old key.. it lost sync yesterday.

i just put mine in the door lock, turned to lock with lock button pressed and the same to open. that was it done..
