Hi everyone
I have had a Land Rover in one way or another all my life until recently that is, I made the mistake and bought myself a new 90 puma a few years ago and it proved to be the biggest mistake i every made in my Land Rover life, Any way its gone now and i'm now in the market for a series 3 that i can tinker with, so ill be looking in the for sale section to see if there is anything interesting, Im not a purist so like things like v8 conversions and galvo chassis something i can use every day, Anyway Hello everyone and you will probably be hearing me a lot more
Cheers
Cris

I like it Transit lol :D bought it new in the first year it had new turbo and a new fuel rail then it constantly went into limp mode after about a mile up the road this turned out to be the wiring loom, 2nd year the door locks failed and when the mechanics took the door cards off there were new barrel locks taped to the inside of the the door ( i kid you not ) 3rd year the bulk head rusted out from the inside of the cab and had to be replaced (the defender i had before it was 15 year old and it hadn't shown signs of rusting out) and they had to take the whole dash out and engine and consequently it was back at the stealers often after that cause things like the radio stopped working and the clock and dash buttons 4th year another turbo end of 4th year got rid of now going back to my youth and looking for a series 3
cheers cris

Welcome. Your S3 is out there somewhere. Your story is a sad example of the poor build quality of new Defenders. Also built too sophisticated for their use(wiring being the obvious one). Defenders are supposed to be utility vehicles, like Series. You can't beat the mechanical simplicity of a series. Good luck.
