Hi,just bought a 2000 xi 1.8 petrol,37000 miles on the clock. Its in great condition, but to be fair i dont really know what i've let my self in for?Having no expirence with Land Rovers, this is all very new.
I have read good and bad reviews, but have wanted one for a long time and this seem to come my way at the right time.......
So to cut a long story short, what is the verdict,on this model good/bad.
I'am hoping someone is going to tell me what i want to hear, which is
Best F***ing move of your life!!!!!

i would love to say "best move of your f*&^%%&^* life mateE but then i would be lying. truth of it is you have bought the worst freelander you possibly could ;)

Yeah, I agree with "Yella Disco". Out of the 3 engine models; you brought the worst, gutless and prone to breaking down. At least my 2.5 litre has get up and go before it breaks it down ;)
TD4 would have been the best bet.
Saying that though, you may get lucky and never have a head gasket fail ££££££££. Take a warranty and keep a warranty for it's life. Repairs can be expensive :(

Thanx for the info on this car.........
found another forum, there are thousands of people out there with blown head gaskets.
ITS GONE BACK!!!!

But anyway THANK YOU;
Yella Disco,
Marksurry,
You saved the day...........

no worries mate, i'm not a big fan of freelanders anyway but at least the td4 has a decent engine. the 1.8 is a lawnwower engine the v6 is unreliable, at least the td4 runs on proper fuel ;)

Yeah...it was just at the right money.....

I know why now.....KKAA BOOOm!!

Thank the lord for tinternet.
