Hi all, found moist patch on the outside of the fuel tank and it must be seeping through somewhere. Am I right in saying my 1986 (d reg) 2.5 n/a will have an external fuel pump as need to find out for ordering a new tank. Where would i find the fuel pump aswell if its external and not in internal. Cheers

Yes.

Pump on the side of the engine - called a lift pump.

I got the same problem.

I was going to take mine off and try and patch it up with a welder and a few bits of steel.

Is this a way round it?

By the time you muck about welding it up, you may as well buy a new one, thats what I did.
Mine was leaking between the cradle and tank.

£10 on ebay for a tank...saves fecking about, if the seam has gone you'll be chasing it forever.

Watch out for the gauge, i had trouble putting the old one in a new tank, now it doesnt read low or high fuel amounts, which is a pain!

Also had to make up packings as the new tank was slightly shorter than the old.
