hello finally fitted my new(ish) engine (300 tdi) into my 96 disco, all wires an pipes connected to the correct places, but there is no power to the starter motor?? where does this black wire go back to? an does anyone know of any wiring diagrams? the only wires i've not connected are the 3 that went to my old injector pump an the 2 in the temp sensor that was in the old head,my disco has an immobiliser fitted (original one) would it be this?

power goes to starter from battery and also from alternator.
the small wire from the ign key (small spade connection) also goes on starter solenoid, this wire kicks the starter in via solenoid when key is turned.

summat like that anyway

could be a spider problem, but worth checking every thing that could of been disturbed during engine swap, spider easy enough to bypass.

ok had a eleccy guy look at it ....said was blowing a fuse in drivers footwell everytime it tried to start, said he was getting intermittint readings when he was testing it, an it was a bad earth on the starter so fiited a new un thru one of the bolts to the chassis ...starts first time now
