Hi, finally got myself a 300 TDI Disco but of the few issues I'll be working through the main one is that it only has one set of keys.
Am I limited to paying stupid amounts to a dealer for a fob and key or is there another cheaper way?

Single button fobs are user programable so DIY and twin button fobs can be purchased from the likes of Remote Key who will loan the programmer so DIY again.
Keys can be cut similar to the original in most shoe repair shops, I thought every one knew that :)

Looks like Remote Key will be having another customer shortly as a dealer supplied one is double the price.
In fairness to the dealer they did recommend Remote Key due to price.

Another thing, the drivers door key lock doesn't seem to work, is it possible to swap the passenger one over? If so would I need the fob at all for central locking etc?

I don't know the definitive answer but the locks are handed, although the lock barrels could be swapped over maybe, it depends what is wrong. So what's wrong ?
Normally you would require the fob to remobilise the engine and unlocking (key can be used for locking) on the disco 1996MY onwards, that's the two button fob system.

It's an N reg and it has the two button fob system. I think it's the barrel as the main key unlocks both passenger door and rear door but nothing on the drivers door. The key for the fuel filler cap thing turns round in the drivers door but nothing happens.

As it looks like I need the fob anyway I'll go down that route but may swap the barrels over at some point.
