Been registered on here for a while as I used to have a freelander.
I've now got myself an 89 Defender (or do I call it a 90?
).
I've always wanted a defender but never been in a position to justify a second car/project (until now)
It's a 2.5 TD and it looks pretty straight. Chassis seems solid, the engine seems ok (for a 2.5td), and the bodywork is quite tidy.
Couple of issues that need looking at though.
Down pipe was cracked completely in half so I fitted a new one for the total sum of £15! bargain!.
There is a hmmmm... grinding/rattle when I accelerate/decelerate which I'm hoping is the UJ's, so I'm going to order a couple of new prop shafts and have a look at the old ones (with a view to sorting and having a spare set).
oh and the washer jet needs replacing (someone has tried to do it via the ash tray hole and looks like they have cross threaded it as the nut is tight and it just wobbles about (new one on order)
Going to strip it down over the summer and do some body work/rust treatment etc.
Guess I need to change my avatar.
