had an isue with the alternator on my 300tdi defender after some serious wading, (so did 3 others in the group) if i hit it with a hammer it would work again and put the warning light out for a few minuets.
Now to be on the safe side i bought a new (denso) alternator, fitted with a new belt and all seemed fine for about 5 minuets, now the warning light is on again.
Ive checked all the conections again and again and even tried swaping terminals but all in vein.
It would appear as though the light is wired to the rev counter terminal as it gets brighter the higher the revs but does the same on both D+ and W terminals.
I have done many searches and cant seem to find a definative answer, the original alternator had 3 terminals as does this one, B+ D+ W and 4 wires going to it.
I now i should only require 2 wires, the loom does not apear to have had any additional added.
any help would be apprieciated cheers
