I,m working for some old farmer boys, and they,ve got an R reg 300 tdi Discovery with 175,000 on the clock and a suspected blown head gasket.

The condition of the body is very good, with a little in the rear door shuts and a small amount in the engine bay. The boot floor seems unaffected by rust.

Chassis looks good and interior is a bit dirty.

Overall it still looks a tidy car with no dents or scrapes.

Said hes looking for £500 for it, what does yee all think ?.

Yeah, I,ll get some tomorrow.

I did nt really pay much attention to it, but I think, ( compared to my 200 ), that the body is pretty rust free, and if it is just a head gasket, it may be a cheap motor.

If theres that little rust 500 is a good price even if you end up putting a new lump under the bonnet.you'll not lose any money on it.

The only thing I,ve got to base my opinions on is my old 200, and my D2 hasnt got any rust on the body.

It just looks like a " neat " car.

D2 body's don't seem to suffer the rot but the rear half of chassis does

Clean???? Tidy????? It's a fooking rust heap.

Maybe I haven't been in the Land Rover world long enough...

....but for now, 5 pence.

As I said, the only other D1 I have any experience of is my old 200, and that really IS a rust heap.

No rust in the boot, and all the rust in the pictures is surface.

I suppose I thought it wasnt bad rust wise, as I read a lot about how the D1 suffers with rot.

It really was a rust bucket !!.

It had 9 advisories on corrosion alone on its last MOT.

I paid 500 for it, used for pay and play for 2 years, and have just flogged it for £350 to a guy who wants the engine for his Defender.

Looking at the pics you've posted, it's only surface rust. Do it.

To be honest, I,m not actually THAT bothered.

I quite like the thought of having a 300 D1 that I could clean up and use offroad.

I,ll see what I can get it for.

If I dont go for it, is any body else interested ?. ( I promise I,m not trying to sell it ! )
