Hi guys
ive just bought my first land rover series 3 last weekend. i have alot of work ahead of me. but one of my first problems is there are no door locks on the doors. can you get a conversion kit or something along those lines so i can have locks? any help on where to buy would be greatly appreichiated too. thanks

I agree with the cluctch claw bith my dad and granddad have them fitted to their landies and I'll fit one to mine. A battery isolator in an out of site location is also a good idea (got 2 on mine, one for the solenoid and 1 for the battery). If you're thinking of keeping it it might be worth fitting a tracker to it.

Paddocks and John Craddock both sell door locks I think. It might be worth fitting anti-burst door locks to yours as you already have no locks on the doors, just to make it more secure and harder to break into

problem is its a series and we all know how bendy the door tops are so whats the point locking it
personally i just put a fookin mahoosive chain from the steering wheel to a rail welded behind the seat bulkhead then down to the clutch pedal with an old padlock shackle welded to that then leave the doors unlocked

i only leave the fukker unlocked due to knowing a theif will always try the handle before creating damage wich is a damn sight cheaper than forking out fer glass and door tops n ****

plus a notice on the dash scares them off

this vehicle is restricted to 40mph

I agree with all of this. If you have valuables in the vehicle (or just some tools and spares) you can bolt a lockable box into the back of the landy or replace the middle seat with a lockable cubby box. Failing that, most people wouldn't think to look in the passenger seat cubby box.

There have been loads stolen to order round here. Advice from the coppers was to park facing the wrong way on a cul de sac between other cars and for a crook lock. Mines a cloth top but I lock the doors to deter pesky kids and **** artists from opening the doors

a mate of mine decided he wanted a landy after seeing mine but got toys after having two pairs of front doors stolen

Leaving the cab looking like a teenagers bedroom full of muck and rubbish seems to help

Fit a Disklok before wasting your money on the pedal boxes.

Diskloks are highly visable and stop the vehicle being steered (always park on full lock)

A pedal box does not prevent a vehicle being nicked... if you really wanted to you could even drive one away with a box on.

They are also often not visible until the door is open.

Door security is ok to stop a kid opening up and ****ing on your seats, but, not much good as a anti-theft device!

Oh forgot to add, on my series, my granddad wired up a box with 2 flashing LEDs which he fitted to the dash with a sticker saying Alarm On on it and powered by normal batteries you get from shops. Something like that probably makes a good visual deterrent, be even better if there actually was an alarm installed :)

thanks for all the clutch claw comments but my clutch doesnt work. the pedal is at the floor. im more bothered about scrap gadgeys and pikey gits robbing it. i have windows but the doors dont lock. i ve took one of the back wheels off and dropped it on the floor. i also have added a high tech sign saying that the vehicle is under 24hr cctv even though it isnt. worth a try tho haha. ive just drilled a hook into the floor and gunna chain it up if that doesnt stop them i dunno what will. i really dont want any1 to steal it even though its a pile of **** at the min. its my baby!!! haha
