I am about to go and buy a new battery for the 300tdi Disco, I forgot to measure the battery area and the LR is 24miles away.

I am simply going to go and get the highest CCA battery I can find, the one I have in the 90 is 1200CCA but would not fit in the Disco so wondered if someone could tell me the dimensions of the battery area, the width and length are the most critical.

Thanks

Thats what I found.....without a/c there is over 300mm to play with. And the max height ? To mix scales about 8 and a half inches including posts ? If I remember right....did all this the other day but didnt write it down.........sorry,I am a big idiot

072 is the one normally (in my experience) listed for D1 300 but on a non a/c car you could get a longer one in (oo-err,missis !!) cos there is more space. However , its a real trawl to find a longer one thats not a fair bit taller such as a lorry battery. I did find low profile longer 95ah leisure batteries to fit on the other side on e bay.....how they would hold up to starting, I dont know.
There was a longer low profile battery fitted to some jeep cherokee with the VM diesel engine....but when I have looked at listings for that motor it comes up "072".........

Cheers - I did get the info for buying it but was looking on phone so didn't post a thanks!

I got a 5 year warranty Varta calcium battery, I can't remember what one it was in the end, but it's 680CCA, so thats 140more than the standard spec I think.

Not an expert but leisure batteries are designed to give low amp output over a long period. Starter battery required to give high amps very quickly. The battery construction is different between the two types and its my experience that you kill a leisure battery quite quickly using to start a disco.
