I love the machine and hate it equally!! Was just driving tithe airpot and pop goes the rad, small hairline fracture on the top. The fookin thing is only a year old. The AA collected it and I sent it to a specialist. Hopefully will be back up and running by the time I'm home on Saturday.

Ok rant over!!!

Mine did the same thing last week :-(
It must be the time of the year (or the month!)

Been told the head is cracked..... Gutted !! Then to boot the gearbox I got put in ain't right so got to come back out too. can't wait to see what this is going to cost.

Thats tough, I'm unhappy and I've "only" got a gearbox problem.
Who diagnosed the cracked head? Other things can cause a rad failure.
I have read that the plastic rad's are prone to header tank failure as they age.

You've not had a lot of luck lately have you...

I got the mechanic to have a good look as I'd read that there are may reasons for it failing. He told me that it was just age and that all the once that he's ever done always seem to go in the same place, top right hand side hair line crack along the top.

Hope your back on the road soon...

HI from what i have seen a britpart rad is as cheap as any I got one last year in ireland from crozier4x4

I have had the same twice both times same place first time was caused by pressure due to hole in the hose that runs from top of rad back to expansion tank it had a hole behind the clip by the battery and was evaporating so couldnt see it everyone said it was the heads - it wasnt second time was the expansion tank cap letting by so its not always doom and gloom hope it gets fixed soon and isnt heads

Wow what a beast!!!!
It looks like a cross between something out of back to the future and Robo cop.....
I don't think much of the chauffer though :D

With all that junk blocking the cooling I'm not surprised the radiator went pop and the engine cooked.

Very fair point that Data. The rad only needed to be slightly below par and the airflow blockages would have caused a major fail.

Our survey says??? WRONG!! Lol

Turned out I had a cracked head since I bought it. It took popping 3 rads in total to find this out! And 2 of the rads went before the upgrades.
