Yes - they were the radii, but I see from your new pictures that you cant increase the "bottom" Radius. I believe though that you have plenty of room to make the "thickness" over the lock greater - if you were to do this - ie make the hollow over the lock deeper, this would strengthen the lock section and reduce the likelyhood of it splitting. As shown in Green below - either that or make the total depth equal to the depth from the "bulge" to the door.

It would also be possible to increase the size of the cover as shown in the other pic in green - A rib would have to be moulded in to replace the old edge though. - and higher material costs.

To be honest, I'd ditch the idea of covering the lock. The way I see it, nothing is going to make a really good seal without either being a) too expensive to manufacture, b) too fiddly for everyday use or c) in danger of damaging the paintwork. Let's face it, there are 2 other door locks that aren't protected and the original purpose of the fuel version was to prevent collection of mud and such in the recess and that surely should still be the objective for the rear door.

Personally I think any solution that covers the lock runs the risk of compromising the performance in sealing the recess AND I'd be very worried about damage to the paintwork. Something like this that rests against the paint and will vibrate (as everything else does in a landy), potentially with small particles of dust/sand beneath it, will quickly make a nasty rash where it sits. The ultimate irony - fit a device to prevent mud/water ingress and the risk of corrosion and end up stripping your paint!! :doh:
 
Great idea, i have one. They don`t like diesel fuel leaking from filler though! They start to warp and then fall off! I attached to car by a small wire attached to screw for filler tube. They are a great idea! I actually send a warped one back to the supplier but received no response.
 
You could always just clean the fooker when you've gone playing????Just a thought but hey who am i, i have no idea.... :mil69:
