Well I done a compression test today after suspicions of head gasket failure.
To me the results look good, in the way that hopefully its not got a crack in the block.

8. 165 7. 140
6. 165 5. 0
4. 165 3. 95
2. 165 1. 0

All in psi.

What does people think?

if you got nothing on 1 and 5, it wont be warped. you'll find you have, as mentioned above by Johnny, a nice coffee table :eek::eek:

If you have no compression at all on two cylinders and low compression on the one in between them. It can only be valves. Either stuck open, burnt or the cam is so worn it is not opening them at all. There is no way it can be losing that much pressure past slipped liners. It is highly unlikely that two pistons have broken up and one is starting to break up all at the same time.

I agree - and I'm sure Mr Piston was happy to Meet Mr Valve and dance around the cylinder

Let us see what happens once the head is removed - fingers crossed for you anyway

Maybe someone has replaced one head with a much older once with no valve seats fitted and running on unleaded has caused this…… Stranger things have happened

Running wise. The engine did not sound that bad. No knocking, a little lumping perhaps. Will start stripping it down when I get home from work today.

dont go giving a conclusion until the heads off. Its never a done deal until you can have a proper look. Good luck as if your doing the work good on ya. Nothing to loose !

No compression on two cylinders and hardly any on another. Think your definition of lumpy maybe slightly differ from mine. :D:D

I can honestly say it did not run that bad. It did overheat but I shut it off straight away.
Started it on the drive, and all seemed fine until I run it up on a fast idle, then there was evidence of exhaust gases in the coolent.

Heads of today. Looks like the head gasket has been leaking all across the one side. There looks to be alot of carbon build up on the valves.
The holes where you can see the camshaft are very rough. Is this just the way they are?
Will get some pics up soon. Dropping the heads of Monday for pressure testing.
