I'm not sure on this one, they used to use ATF in the R380, then they changed to MTF94, they are both similar viscosities and obviously gear oils...
No one has ever been able to tell me for certain which is better, I know it needs to be the thinner stuff because of the oil pump in them. I know my Disco which was originally my dads and was always maintained by a LR indy till I bought it had ATF in it and has done about 145,000. I changed to MTF94 as that's what I had as I'd filled my brand new R380 in my 90 with it.
