hmm 23mpg, did ya pull that out of ya hat or is that a realistic guess? sounds ok to me, just hoping its still in the 20's
When I towed our 2ton caravan with our Disco Tdi 200 I averaged 26mpg, over 400kms.

Sorry, I'l get me coat
Tis all true. I tryed to hire a dolly when I bought me craped out series Landy and every where I rang said nope! I ended up with a flat bed trailer which I winched the series onto and it had an over run braking system on it. If you dont know what an over run braking system is look at the a frame of a caravan. Concertina bit behind the tow hitch. You brake trailer catches up with you squashing the concertina bit in and it pulls a linkage attached to the trailers brakes. Ta dar! Simple int it.
So what about the dozens of motor caravanners we see down here with a small car on an A frame or dolly behind their vans?
So Devon & Cornwall Constabulary is neglectin their duty then, cos there's ferkin loads of em.
I've seen a few of these lately with coupled brakes from the tow vehicle to the car, don't know the full workings of it but VOSA guys have let them go! I remain sceptical.
I remain sceptical.
Bluestrobe. are you traffic or regular beat bobby. I am taking it you're traffic due to the knowledge you are showing.
Basically. YES.
Last year when the recovery regs changed vosa went on the rampage. they nicked myself and several of my colleagues for spec lifting vehicles cos the casualty vehicle weighs more than 750kg. It took 6 months of argueing and point blank refusal to recover ANY vehicle they had condemned to get them to see the light. Even now a lot of my colleagues will not spec a vehicle more than a few miles. I don't have a problem with it cos I know of the ins and outs. It still causes me grief when I have to spend hours talking VOSA through the law though cos they don't know it. If you don't know the full ins and outs do not attempt to use anything other than a trailer.
