Just right rid of my defender.

So now in the market for a discovery. Is there anything I need to no about these or just sills and boot floor to look out for? It's only going to be standard for my budget - will that be good enough for Laning or would I need to make mods before green Laning?

They do rot, underneath and a little on the top also (round the alpine windows) check the headlamp boxes, battery tray, front inner wings, sills, rear arches, boot floor, top and bottom of ABC pillars, seat belt mounts etc chassis is normally ok, all easy to repair if you can weld.

Bulkhead, roof and floor steel but with ally body panels so everywhere thats steel basically but mainly underneath.

Re laning: if your only laning it is a fairly capable machine in standard form you never see farmers stuck and they dont seem to mod but I do believe tires are very important, that and driving technique. For more than laning consider some mods, depends what you want to do with it I suppose, that and budget.

Any idea where to look?

Well since riding motorbikes I have to agree tyres and driving skill is 90% of it really. Well my budget is £1k for a disco in any shape or form as long as it's good and running it doesn't hav to have mods to start. Thanks for the advise and your correct farmers rarly stuck

The for sale section on here, ebay, autotrader, google, facebook for sale section, gumtree?, preloved etc. You shold be able to pick up something half decent for that money.

Make sure body is in good shape and that its mechanically sound, serviced etc before you go bolting extra bits on.

+1 with MrNice. If you can up your budget to £1500, you'd have a better choice of better vehicles. And re. tyres, you can't go very wrong with a set of Pirelli Scorpions. You're both right, it's the ability of the driver that makes ALL the difference.

Found none near me! Gutted thanks though chaps much appreciated I would like one with wheels / cb radio etc already in it

Yup. As well as driving ability, wheels also help with driving.
