I agree, i've lived this long thinking it was standard, think i can cancel them meself!! (this would be alien speak to a rangie driver!! they get confoozibefuddled when the cup holder dunt self cancel when the cup senses itself as empty!)

The mountneys usually have 2 small holes on the back of the boss. cottle pins are tapped into these holes to activate the self cancelling. Once in they are VERY difficult to remove. My old boss had long cottle pins, my new one had short ones. I overcame it by inserting another short cottle pin into the original short cottle pin.
Rowly. If you are going for a set of rock sliders to help protect your landy, you are better off getting some with tree sliders built in too. They will help protect the sides of your landy from other inconsiderate idiots door damage in car parks too.

Ratty, thanks for the advice and taking the time to look at my spec.
I looked at the side bars with Tree sliders. I went for a heavy bar, rather than steps for side impact protection from other vehicles. They will inevitably be used as a step. I was put off by the tree slider attched ones thinking my lads would use the rail as a step. In wet boots I could see them slipping and clattering their knees etc.

I have now got my Mountney and made a few Piccies for your delectation showing a Mountney and a Mota - Lita.

The Mountney looks good enough to me..... do the indicators self cancel or have you had to make adjustments? I am tempted as my steering wheel seems to have been a victim of rats or a driver in situe having his piles done with no anaesthetic:crazy_driver:

ive got a 13" mountey on mine, with no power steering and no self cancel, i think its great! Really do.
Dnt like the self cancel anyway, cos on mine it was too sensitive cos it was knackered.
About your sound system mate, make sure the locks are good!!
Seriously though, in mine (When its all finished) I will have
Pioneer Bluetooth/Ipod Headunit
1xLightning Audio amp driving 2x 6x9's (JBL)
1xFLi (it was REALLY cheap from halfrauds, where i work) amp driving 2x 8" Kenwood subs
The headunit will also drive 4x smaller speakers
All the speakers will be in custom hand made boxes from 12mm ply, lined and covered to match the dash for the front ones, and the red carpet i was given to line the rear in the rear.
Works out at about700watt all in.
Personally though i wouldn't bother with the air con, ive never thought it needed on a LR, jus open the vents in the front!

Just an update on the fitting of a Mountney steering wheel. Once obtained neither of the Bosses fitted properly. The one with the correct number of splines had such a long mounting collar that we couldn't get the nut to rotate more than a couple of turns. Had to take it to my Brother-in-law who lathed of about 8mm. Worked a treat after that.

In that case I will stick with my original.... unless the boss was a correct and easy fit, to me it would be more trouble than its worth

Hopefully the 13inch will be a bit stronger having a bit less flex. Also, Im no Arnie
