hi, got the MOT coming up next week:eek: Just a quick question as im not that clued up about what they actually test.

had a problem with my horns a few months ago and the neighbours said it was stuck on all night when i was out!! ever since then they havent worked, im guessing they burnt out (what caused them to do it i think was a low battery??!!) but i completely forgot the mot's coming and havent yet sourced a pair, does anyone know if its a failure if a car doesnt have a horn?????? Thanks guys.

Just make sure you are getting voltage at the horn connections when you press the switch. If so, the horn(s) are shot...if not, could be fuse, relay or faulty switch.

havent checked supply at the horn, but when you press the steering wheel for the horn im able to hear the relay clicking so i assumed it was the horns????

That's a good start but I would still double check at the horn connectors that all is well wiring wise.

thanks for the link interesting reading if it fails!!!!!!
no problem and gives ya ammo so the mot man cant pull the wool over your eyes.I had a big debate over the hand brake last mot.It held but it had no reseerve travel. I adjusted it so it held on 4 clicks. The mot man sed it werent good enough, i sed it was cos one click is regarded as reserve. He begrudgingly accepted (it was an auto as well)

if i was your neighbour i would have been out an cut the wires to the horn :violent::hysterically_laughi check for power to the horns

havent got a multimeter for checking that but i checked the state of the wiring and all looks ok!!!!
