2004 4.4 petrol 127000 miles what are the typical mot problems at this age?

Anything and everything !!!

Bulbs, tyres, bushes, ball joints the list's endless.

I always book mine in for 3-4 weeks before MOT expiry date so gives me a little time so I can still use the RR (unless it's something serious/dangerous IMO) to rectify anything it fails on ;)

My first MOT fails were rear suspension arm bushes upper and lower which I changed myself and I spent £300 on new headlight wiper motors as i didn't have time to source used ones for about £20 off ebay. I also had to replace the handbrake shoes and all the moving parts as my handbrake was very poor and all the guts fell out when i took the drum off and I also had to repair the backplate as the shoe retaining posts had pulled through it.

As Rob says, i now take mine about a month early so it gives me time to set fire to it, i mean repair it......

Any warning lights up on the display will be a fail as will front suspension bushes or cv joint boots.

Good luck :)

it is about a month before i class that as my due date to give myself time or save up last year was £600 for brake pipes full length up and over ect

Could be worse, we have seen people turn up on here with £2500 bills after taking there beloved RR for it's first MOT since they have owned it.

the rangie was booked in at 8.30 this morning for the mot and i havent heard any thing yet? could it be good news ?

One thing i have learnt is to make disappointment my friend, it's a kind of built in safety factor, hopefully if you have had your car awhile you have don't all the nasty stuff.........

Good for you, when I did my aircon rad it was quite simple as I followed somebodies earlier thread of removing the slam panel and sliding the old rad out and the new back in, that's if you need one of course.

I had mine recharged the first time at kwikfit and it all leaked out again but the good thing being they refund you if it does.

I then replaced the rad and they did it again and it's been fine now ever since.

Yep, aircon condensor replacement is a piece of cake on the L322, just lots of bolts:)
Nissens are coating theirs now to try and make them last longer.

the problem i have got is im not sure where it leaking it lasts a few months and registers fine when they fill it (last two years)

If you have it filled again, get them to put tracer dye in, it will soon show where it's leaking.

i did ask for the dye and apparently the company in and out has it in aas standard?????? but i havent seen any leak signs
May have to get the condensor out to see the leak, also check the pipes as they get pin holes in that can be hard to see.

I had a free diagnostic done on mine by a specialist and I think they used a camera, I was out but they told my girlfriend that's what they did, but they wanted £400 to fix it so i bought a Nissens and did it myself.

I contacted Nissens regarding what looked like weld spatter as I was concerned I had been sold a refurb off of Ebay and I was actually contacted by their manufacturing manager who had a look at their production process and agreed it could be improved and as far as I know they did it.

I bought mine off the link below who were also very good at contacting me, very pleased by them and Nissens as it's rare to find good customer service these days :)

just waiting for him to get back to me if he has any in stock cheers chicken

Lovely, when i did mine I used a 1/4" hex male to 3/8" square drive and used my cordless drill that has torque control to spin the bolts out, saved a bit of time and is really easy to do compared to a boring old ratchet

keep us posted :)
