I've just failed to replace the discs and pads on my 90... fell pretty much at the first hurdle really as whoever did the bolts for the brake pipe bracket on the swivel hub plate up last time didn't read the ferkin manual - they must be well over 100 lBft and they're only supposed to be 7 lBft ! ****a!

OSF Caliper is ferked - £75 + Gordonspocketmoney from Paddocks, might as well do both while I'm at it I spose...

I'm stuck with how to get the swivel hub plate off though... can't get a socket on the second bolt as the brake pipe to caliper union covers the top of it - only thing I can think of is to replace the bracket, union and flexible hose at the same time as I do the caliper and hacksaw the old one off so I can get a socket on the bolt... anyones got a better idea?

Found the flexible hose on paddocks at less than a tenner - but can't find a pre-fab caliper union or swivel hub bracket on there - anyone know where I can get them?

Cheers in advance,

If your doing the calipers you may as well do the flexi hose as well. Stainless braided hoses aren't that expensive and if they make the same difference as they did on my bike then they are worth it.

Yeah, I'd probably do 'the works' whilst I was at it too (& will have to shortly I reckon).

Guess that means you won't be in the 90 next week then? Have time to hook up for a beer anyway......or too depressed?

I'm in two minds mate...

Pro's:
The disc is knackered on the drivers side anyway and it still stops on a 5p piece. It's not like I can do any more damage to it and I've already bought the replacement bits (ordered calipers and hoses earlier today) so I can't exactly hurt it any more can I? I've got AA membership, so if I do break it while I'm away from home I can get it recovered for free.

Con's:
It makes a nasty noise when I brake... boohoo, I'll have to turn the stereo on I guess.

Yeah - **** it, I'll bring the 90 up, would be good to get someone elses opinion on whether £3k was too much to spend on it or not.

What night is good for you? Mon/Tues/Weds are likely to be the only nights I'm up in Berks.

Daft, you up for a swift half mate?

Cheers,

Tuesday would be tops. Portsmouth Arms? Open to suggestions tho'.

Tuesday it is mate. However, the only bit of Basingstoke I know is the ring road and that's sketchy in the extreme, 'coz I always use the M3 so as to avoid Basingstoke ;)

Got directions or a postcode? In fact it might just be easiest if I picked you up on the way to the pub as I'll only be having the one anyway as I'll be driving whatever.

Cheers,

I literally live behind the P/mouth Arms. It's off of about the only turning there is on Cliddesden Lane. Easy to tell you're on it as it runs alongside the M3.

Help?

I won't be hitting them hard neither, I do have to drive 200 yards home and Im showing some solidarity with my girl as she's hugely pregnant (I've never had an untouched bottle of Black Label Smirnoff in my freezer for 8 months EVER!)

Err... apart from being temporarily blinded by the colour scheme on that link - it's triffick mate.

Not you an' all!? Sounds like we've got more in common than a car... mines due in Febry  but she's been extremely good about drivin' me round while I'm the worse for wear :D

Cheers,

Blimey you have been trawling in the dim and distant past mate :D

Will do - dunno exactly when it will be, the Surrey 'ramble' might even precede it.
