A week ago, on a damp, cold, misty day, I returned to my 2005 TD4 HSe after a hard day's skiving in the office to find all the doors still on but it had a dead battery. Dashboard looked like Space Invaders. Anyway the nice chap from the AA got me going and all was OK. Stopped at the shop on the way home for some tins of Daddy Pop, when I took the key out of the ignition, the blower fan was going like fook on speed 4. I thought the car was possessed. Turning the power switch off, or to 1, 2 or 3 did nowt, the blower was still going. No the car hadn't morphed into a hair drier.
I reckon the damp must have shorted something - everything was off whan I left the car earlier that day, although I'd left the blower on 4, so whatever the electrical shenanigins was, it kicked in, ran the fan at 4 and drained the battery while it was parked. Bastid thing.
Anyway got home, took the key out and yet again the fan was going on speed 4, whatever setting the switch was on - took the fuse out of the in-cab box, fuse still going. Took the 30a fuse out from the engine bay and voila, silence. Put the 30a fuse back in, still silence, happy, went inside for me beer.
Now, my blower now works on 1, 2 and 3, with or without heat, but the fan won't work on level 4, whether I've got the ignition key in or not
. I've changed the 30a fuse (twice) but still no dice. Have searched on here and found similar problems that point to resistors - is that where the problem may lie?
